Venkatesh Prasad Praises KL Rahul Comeback on Twitter
At Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, KL Rahul overcame a slump in his play to hit the game-winning half-century in the first ODI against Australia. After forming a significant relationship with Ravindra Jadeja, Rahul enabled India to easily recover from a top-order collapse and reach home.
One among the first to applaud him for the amazing knock on social media was Venkatesh Prasad. “Good control under duress and an outstanding performance by KL Rahul. Best knock. A terrific victory for India and outstanding support from Ravindra Jadeja, “Venkatesh tweeted something.
Excellent composure under pressure and a brilliant innings by KL Rahul.
Top knock. Great support by Ravindra Jadeja and a good win for India.#INDvAUS pic.twitter.com/tCs74rBiLP— Venkatesh Prasad (@venkateshprasad) March 17, 2023
Venkatesh Prasad on KL Rahul’s Poor Form
After Rahul’s several Test failures, which resulted to his expulsion from the starting XI during the Delhi Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Venkatesh was outspoken in his criticism of Rahul. The former Indian bowler engaged in an argument with Aakash Chopra verbally and posted numerous threads detailing Rahul’s dismal record.
In his two Test matches, Rahul has only amassed 38 runs over three innings. Rahul is unlikely to play in the World Test Championship (WTC) final after Shubman Gill scored a century in the Ahmedabad Test.
Since the 2022 T20 World Cup, when his slow batting technique drew a lot of criticism from all sides, Rahul has also been absent from India’s T20 lineup. India was eliminated from the semi-final after losing to eventual champions England by a disgraceful 10-wicket margin.
In 2022, Rahul was appointed vice-captain for India in all three forms, although he is no longer in that role. Hardik Pandya, who will serve as Rohit Sharma’s stand-in for the ODI series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand while the regular skipper is unavailable, will also serve as the team’s captain tonight.
Rahul lost his position as vice-captain in Test cricket despite leading India during the two-match Test series in Bangladesh. In preparation for the third and fourth Tests against Australia, India did not appoint a formal vice-captain.
